Delhi – The capital city of India also called New Delhi and locally Delhi is the main arrival point for overseas tourists. Delhi is second-largest metropolitan city and Capital of India. It is the third largest city. Delhi is main starting point for North India. It is divided into two parts Old Delhi & New Delhi. In Old Delhi you will find many mosques, monuments and forts relating to India’s Muslim history. Red Fort and Jama Masjid, India’s largest mosque combined with the old city’s bazaars. The hub of the metropolitan is Central New Delhi, an orderly plan of wide roads lined with sturdy colonial buildings which was established soon after the imperial capital of British India moved here in 1911. It is a planned city with wide streets, parks. Parliament House, India Gate President house, Old Fort, Humayun’s Tomb, Qutub Minar & Zoo are in New Delhi.

Delhi with it’s innumerable shopping complexes is able to cater to every individuals desire to acquire items that have the essence, the originality of a particular region in India. Although there are shopping complexes in almost every locality in Delhi, Connaught Place, Karol Bagh, Rajouri Garden, Lajpat Nagar and Chandni Chowk are the principle shopping areas. Multiple emporia representing every state of the country are to be seen at the famous Baba Kharak Singh Marg, near Parliament Street. Each state emporium has a slice of the best of its crafts under one roof at government-controlled prices. Dilli Haat, near INA market, developed by Delhi Tourism has on display almost everything that would be very typical to a particular region in India.

Best Time to Visit

October and November or February and March are considered as the best time to visit Delhi. During this period, the weather remains pleasant whereas, Delhi enjoys too hot or too cold climate throughout the year.

How to Reach

Flight: Delhi’s airport is the Indira Gandhi International airport and is very well connected to cities across India and the world. There are regular flights to Delhi from Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Goa, Kolkata, Guwahati and international destinations as well.

Rail: Trains run from all the parts of the country to Delhi. For nearby places like Chandigarh, Dehradun, Gwalior, Bhopal, Lucknow and Kanpur, the Shatabdi Express is recommended.

Road: Buses from all the major places in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan are available for getting to Delhi. During the summer months, air-conditioned coaches are recommended.
